Lottery

I broke down and entered the Kona Lottery for the first time. My chances of winning a slot are very slim, but they increase each year I join in the lottery. So Ben and I decided I should begin my trek to Kona in 2014. Being in that 35-39 age group puts my qualification chances at zero in all honesty. I was too out of shape when I started my…

Not broken…..yet

The news was good at the orthopedic surgeons office today. The wrist still hurts, but it is not bruised. He thinks it is form of tendinitis so we went with some excruciating forced movements and a cortisone shot. The pain from the forced movement was intense enough I almost lost my stomach contents and things started to go black. I was pretty useless for the day exercise wise after that…

Wait and see…..

I’ve had a pain in my left wrist for a couple of weeks now. I thought I had just hit it on something and it was bruised, but Friday I woke and could not move it without horrific pain shooting through my arm. After some X-rays with Dr. Jay I have a appointment Tuesday with an orthopedic surgeon to make sure my scaphoid bone is not cracked. Hopefully it’s just…

Sunday ~ 12th day of streaking

Today I decided to take on my 12th day of the streak with the two boys. I’ve been wanting to learn to run pushing the B.O.B and our 27 pound 16 month old (67 pounds total). Well, I didn’t take into account the wind was blowing 30 mph (not exaggerating). We took off on a walk warm up with the big guy skate boarding behind us until we turned into…

Off Day

Wow that felt great! I know I’m just building base again after some earned time off, but your endurance fades fast when you are eating poorly and sitting around a lot. The good side is I am starting to feel things coming back. My legs aren’t aching as badly and recovery is starting to speed up again. This will be day 12 of the run streak and I have a…

New Adventures

I’ve talked about focusing on nutrition for a couple of years, but today I took the plunge and signed up for a nutrition school. A teammate recommended this one as a very reputable one and I start February 10th! I’m excited about a second chapter in my work life. I really hope to be able to supplement and eventually get out of the tech industry.

Brrr

The last couple of days have been quite chilly. Today the high was 32 degrees so my continued streak was brisk to say the least. 6 days into my first streak and I feel awesome. I’m actually asking myself daily why I haven’t always done this. Got in a nice 40 minute spin after my run today. The legs feel surprisingly good after yesterday’s power push. The short power workouts…

New Year ~ New Methods ~ New Me?

The new year has started and I am trying to beat my old demons that say sitting down relaxing would be more fun than getting on the trainer in the garage or starting that streak. The old cliche that Triathlon is 70-80% mental is not a lie. I let my ADHD get the best of me too often when it comes to training and I only focus on the end…
